Dr Igor Vobič Named Member of UNESCO Expert Group Revising Media and Information Literacy Curriculum
Dr. Igor Vobič, a member of the Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence in Digital Humanities, recently participated in a meeting in Helsinki as one of ten members of a special expert group tasked with revising UNESCO’s curriculum on Media and Information Literacy. UNESCO launched the revision in response to the exceptionally rapid development of artificial intelligence in recent years.
The expert group brings together specialists from various fields and from countries across all continents, including South Africa, India, the United States, Colombia, Finland, Singapore, France and Slovenia.
The preparation of a special supplement to UNESCO’s Global Framework on Media and Information Literacy, addressing the implications of artificial intelligence, was also outlined at the fortress on Suomenlinna Island, one of Finland’s most important historical landmarks, where the influence of different empires has intersected over the centuries.
The revision process and the accompanying materials are expected to be completed in early autumn.
