Purpose

The Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Digital Humanities (CoE AI4DH) is a community of experts in AI, social sciences, and digital humanities that pursue excellent science in an interdisciplinary and collaborative way. By leveraging AI expertise and a top-tier computational infrastructure, CoE fosters interdisciplinary collaborations. If you would like to integrate AI into your social science or humanities research, we are here to support you.

Unprecedented amounts of data are now available to researchers in humanities and social sciences. The application of artificial intelligence is essential if we are to process the available data sets, uncover previously hidden patterns and gain insights at unprecedented speed. The establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Digital Humanities (CoE in AI4DH) is key to supporting this transformation.

The CoE welcomes researchers to reach out with specific needs for guidance on what is possible, what is not, what aligns with their requirements, and what represents a research gap that could be addressed by computer scientists at the CoE.

By integrating AI into their workflows, researchers can enhance the efficiency and depth of their analyses, leading to new insights and a broader understanding of cultural and historical phenomena. We aim to strengthen collaboration across disciplines, including computer science, AI, linguistics, history, media studies, folkloristics, journalism, and philosophy.

Services

We offer a wide range of services to support
AI-driven research in digital humanities:

Our goal is to generate new insights into social issues such as inequality, migration, and political polarization. By analyzing large datasets from historical archives, social media, and other digital platforms, we uncover patterns and trends in societal behavior, public opinion, and cultural shifts. We are committed to using AI responsibly, ensuring that our technologies uphold human rights, protect privacy, and respect cultural diversity.
